Our "Heirloom Bentwood Boxes" are of the highest quality and are totally ready to paint or decorate when you receive them. You can omit the usual steps that normally include: (1) Setting all the nails; (2) Filling in the nail holes with wood filler; and (3) Sanding all surfaces until they are smooth. The bands are constructed from birch. The tops and bottoms are made from Trupan. This allows for the highest quality without warping. Enjoy!
